The idea to open Polar Provisions came when Chris, the founder was visiting his marina in Penetanguishene and looking for ice after the office was closed. The only ice available was prepackaged ice in a locked ice merchandiser and was only accessible during office hours. He couldn't be the only boater finding themselves in this position. 

This led to wondering if boaters needed ice outside of office hours and how do they get it without driving 10 minutes to the nearest convenience store. Chris saw the opportunity for ice vending machines that were not restricted by office hours. The idea for Polar Provisions was born.  

To make this idea a reality, Chris began researching ice vending machine suppliers. He found Pure Choice Water and Ice located in Blenheim, ON. This was the only Canadian water and ice vending machine supplier. Discussions quickly began with Pure Choice Water and Ice on equipment options, purchase price, ordering timelines and so much more.

Now with the first location operational, Chris is looking to the surroundings areas in need of a solution to this problem as well in hopes of bringing accessible ice and water to everyone.
